Albert Pollard

“My core values are my love of my family, belief in God and duty to return my gifts to the community at large.”

Albert is running for State Senate because he believes it is his duty to leave the world a little better than when he found it. There are too many pivotal issues facing Virginia for him to stand aside. Real transportation solutions, bi-partisan education reforms and preserving Virginia’s natural resources are just a few of the issues Albert will work towards accomplishing as State Senator in Virginia’s 28th District.

It’s been a couple years since Albert Pollard served in the House of Delegates, but people still stop him on the street or in the grocery store to say, “You took the time to personally return a call – we need more people like you.” Or “You’re one of the good ones.” By being responsive conscientious and hard-working, he helped restore people’s faith in democracy. These values and virtues are why Twenty-First Century Democrats enthusiastically endorse Albert in his campaign for the Virginia State Senate.

Albert has a record of getting things done. While integral health services in his home town were in the process of closing down thereby prompting a local health crisis, Albert was instrumental in fashioning a solution. With leadership and gumption, Albert helped create a commission in time to make smart recommendations that kept several hospitals in the business of providing quality family care. As former Director of the Virginia Chapter of the Sierra Club, he has an impeccable record on environmental issues. With hard work and political savvy, he helped defeat an unnecessary and destructive 12 billion gallon reservoir. He was given the Legislator of the Year Award from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

He accomplished so much during his time in the legislature because he was able to work across party lines while never compromising his principles. “I saw Albert Pollard at work in Richmond. He is a man with great integrity who stands up to the system and produces real results for Virginians,” said former Republican Delegate Panny Rhodes.

While he is able to work well with Republicans, he’s not afraid to stand against them either. In 2004 he voted to balance the budget, secure Virginia’s excellent education system and shore up the economy; all against fierce Republican opposition.

In short, there is no doubt Albert Pollard will be a State Senator who works tirelessly to achieve the results that are in the best interest of the state. When he was in the State House, he earned a reputation as a great legislator who always fought for what was right. Twenty-First Century Democrats believes he will continue to earn this reputation as a State Senator and proudly endorses his candidacy.
