Ann Kirkpatrick

“I want America to be a place where people are hopeful and know that our best days are ahead of us.”
Ann Kirkpatrick’s decision making is guided by fairness and a commitment to making the American dream available to everyone. As the 1st district’s next Congresswoman, she will make sure all people have the opportunity to achieve their full potential by investing in an excellent public education for every child, including helping rural and economically disadvantaged areas find and pay for excellent teachers. She supports economic development investments to create jobs, providing every child in America with quality and affordable health care, and keeping our air clean and protecting open spaces.

At 21st Century Democrats, we value accountability and transparency in our government and Kirkpatrick plans to provide just that. Once elected to Congress, she will work to restore people’s faith in government by putting an end to the special interest agenda, curbing lobbyist power in Washington and reforming the federal campaign system.

Kirkpatrick was born and raised in Eastern Arizona before making Flagstaff her home for over 25 years. Since moving to Northern Arizona, she has worked hard to make her community a better place to live. In 1980 she became the first woman Deputy County Attorney, and later served as the City Attorney for Sedona. She is active in community service and is the former president of the United Way of Northern Arizona and served on the Board of Directors of Big Sisters, The Flagstaff Library Foundation, and Lowell Observatory.

In 2004 Kirkpatrick took her commitment to the community one step further when she was elected to represent the 2nd legislative district in the Arizona House of Representatives. As the Ranking Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee, Kirkpatrick has been unyielding in her advocacy of taxpayer dollars demanding fiscal accountability. The mother of two college age daughters, Kirkpatrick has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of education in Arizona including providing voluntary all day kindergarten throughout Arizona. A strong advocate for the environment, she has ensured that the state’s natural landscape is preserved.

Kirkpatrick firmly believes that the people of Arizona “deserve trustworthy representation by someone who will protect our clean air and our open spaces, while bringing jobs, opportunity and economic development to our communities.” 21st Century Democrats shares these convictions and is thrilled to be working to help elect Ann Kirkpatrick to Congress.
