Carlos Del Toro

“We need leaders who talk less, listen more, and compromise on the details without ever compromising their values or our future.”

Twenty-First Century Democrats proudly announces its support of Commander Del Toro (ret), who seeks election to the Virginia House of Delegates where he will represent the state’s 88th District. It is Del Toro’s purpose to make sure that at the heart of every decision he will make as a state legislator, is a deep-rooted concern for the quality of life of his constituents. His vision for an America where the citizenry is more actively engaged in government, and where social responsibility is taken seriously, resonates strongly with that of Twenty-First Century Democrats, and his stellar resume is just one of the reasons we are looking forward to helping elect him to public office.

A retired Naval Commander, Carlos’ priorities are wide-ranging – a good reflection of both his experience and his promise. He believes we need to do more to improve transportation throughout Virginia, so parents can spend more time with their families and less time on the roads. He also believes that higher education should be within everyone’s reach and plans to implement policies to achieve this. Finally, one of Commander Del Toro’s overriding concerns is to ensure that he remains engaged with his district, avoiding the pitfalls of becoming distanced from the community.

Carlos is an outstanding candidate for public office and the positions he has previously held attest to his capabilities as a leader and team-builder. Whether serving his country as Commander of the US Navy destroyer USS Bulkeley, or as a White House Fellow in the Office of Management and Budget, his dedication to obtaining quality results has paid dividends. He has served the United States in times of war and peace. Carlos is equally at ease as part of a team or as its leader, and also understands the concerns of small business, being the founder and President of his own engineering company. He is driven by an innate sense of duty to this county and a desire to improve life for the residents of the 88th District, Virginians, and all Americans.

Carlos enjoys respect in all aspects of his life due to his willingness to learn from others and the integrity and professionalism he brings to his every endeavor. Twenty-First Century Democrats recognizes the great promise Commander Del Toro shows, and is proud to support him as he shifts his commitment to serving his district, state and country in a new, exciting direction.
