2007/2008 Election Candidate Endorsements Round One

Twenty-First Century Democrats seeks out and supports bold, progressive leaders who fight for what’s right, not what’s politically expedient. We are proud to endorse the following candidates and, with the generous help of our progressive supporters, we’ll provide critical support to propel them to victory in the 2007 and 2008 elections. 

Our 2007 Candidates.

Carlos Del Toro – VA State House – It is Del Toro’s purpose to make sure that at the heart of every decision he will make as a state legislator, is a deep-rooted concern for the quality of life of his constituents. Click to continue.
Janet Oleszek  – VA State Senate – “The future I envision is one where every child starts out on the same playing field and is given the same opportunities to excel, no matter what economic background they come from.” Click to continue.
Albert Pollard  – VA State Senate –  Albert is running for State Senate because he believes it is his duty to leave the world better than when he found it. There are too many pivotal issues facing Virginia for him to stand aside. Click to continue.
Fred Mason, III – City Council, Baltimore, MD   “We need public servants with commitment and faith in the people.” Click to continue.
David Mejias – County Legislator, Nassau County NY –  David believes restoring the people’s faith in government is a key component in re-establishing public engagement. Dave Mejias takes a stand for things he believes in. Click to continue.
Thomas Bullock – City Council, Lakewood OH Tom exhibits the qualities of a great leader – talent, a willingness to work hard, and optimism. What’s more, Tom’s own hopes for Lakewood's citizens reflect some of his best features: respect for others, self-knowledge, and self-responsibility.

Joan Fitz-Gerald – US Congress, Colorado   Joan Fitz-Gerald is a proven leader and progressive whose vision of America is inspired by Robert F. Kennedy, the first candidate she worked for. Click to continue.
Jack Markell – Governor, Delaware   “We need to raise our expectations; we need to demand more of ourselves. We can and we must do better. The issue in this campaign is whether we’re going to continue along the path that we’ve been following or whether we’re going to take bold steps toward a stronger, healthier Delaware.”

Jim Roth – Corporation Commissioner, Oklahoma   Jim’s smart, ethical decisions have reinforced the public’s perception of him as a leader who not only gets the job done, but does it in an honest, compassionate and fair way. Click to continue.
