“It’s the job of leaders to help build communities for the better.”
Matt brings the youth and charisma to the lieutenant governor campaign that Vermont is known to support. He has an independent spirit matched with an audacious vision for the future. This combination makes for one of the most dynamic progressives we have seen in New England.

What Makes Matt an Extraordinary, Visionary Leader?
Matt has made expanding access to broadband internet a centerpiece of his public service in the Vermont legislature and he wants to make this effort statewide through the lieutenant governor’s office. He understands that equality includes the ability of all Vermonters to have access to information that can enrich their lives. Matt also is emphasizing the importance of harnessing new technology through his advocacy of truly universal healthcare. Taking a comprehensive approach to the universal healthcare dream in Vermont, Matt wants better IT systems for healthcare professionals that could speed up the transfer of patient information and enable access to more of a patient’s history. Matt also has a visionary proposal for funding college education: serve the community for two years and attend a Vermont public university for free.
In addition to expanding the reach of technology in Vermont, Matt continues a traditional Democratic fight: eliminating poverty. Matt is running on a platform to find new ways to fund affordable housing in Vermont’s urban areas. He will find innovative ways to fund housing while also preserving Vermont’s farmland.
“By working together, I believe we can empower every Vermonter to reach his or her full potential.”- Matt Dunne
Throughout his career, Matt has been instrumental in the fight for early education for pre-kindergarten aged children. Matt is committed to bringing this universal program to his state through any means necessary.
Matt is a leader in many capacities. He served as director of the AmeriCorps/VISTA program for more than two years. As director he led more than 6,000 volunteers at the front lines of the some of our country’s most needy communities. AmeriCorps/VISTA is the largest federal government agency dedicated solely to recruiting volunteers and disseminating them across the country to provide necessary services. Matt served under both a Democratic and Republican administration during his tenure.
