Washington, DC – Twenty-First Century Democrats, the 13th largest political action committee in the nation, would like to congratulate Richard Cordray and his campaign for their win in Ohio’s State Treasurer race. Cordray was only one of 34 candidates endorsed by Twenty-First Century Democrats throughout the 2006 election cycle.
“The election of Richard Cordray is a step forward for Ohioans,” said Kelly C. Young, president of Twenty-First Century Democrats. “Richard will make fiscal accountability a priority during his time in office. His plan is aimed at resolving the real financial problems plaguing Ohio’s communities, sparking economic growth, and inspiring confidence in the state once again.”
Cordray’s extremely competent and impressive record as Franklin County’s Treasurer accounts for his victory over Republican candidate Sandra O’Brien. As State Treasurer, Richard plans to enact his visionary refinancing plan. This idea will increase the revenue for local communities in Ohio just as it did for Franklin County under his leadership. This compassionate approach will help Ohioans avoid foreclosure, because it allows citizens more time to pay off their debts to the government.
Democratic victories around the country, including Cordray, demonstrate America’s call for change in this midterm election. “Richard is part of a new Democratic team in Ohio that will return integrity and honesty to government. He will work on behalf of all Ohioans and will never let partisan politics stand in the way of sound fiscal policy.”
The endorsement of such a small number of candidates nationwide signals a new direction for Twenty-First Century Democrats. “We seek out and support true visionary, authentic candidates,” said Young. “In order to move our country forward, we need to elect bold leaders with innovative ideas, who will stand up for their beliefs. Americans want leaders like Richard Cordray, who are pragmatic and have a record of achieving their vision while in office. ”
